These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Ory (the "App"), operated by Alexey Vlasov ("we", "us", "our"), based in the United Kingdom. By downloading or using Ory you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Important: Ory is a wellness companion app, not a medical device and not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are in crisis or danger, please contact emergency services (999 in the UK) or a crisis line immediately.

1. Eligibility

Ory is intended for adults aged 18 and over. By using the App you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you must not use the App.

2. The Service

Ory provides an AI-powered personal wellness companion designed to support emotional wellbeing through conversation, mood tracking, and evidence-informed exercises drawing on CBT, DBT, and ACT frameworks.

Ory is not:

A licensed therapist, counsellor, or mental health professional
A medical device or diagnostic tool
A substitute for professional mental health treatment
An emergency service

AI-generated responses are designed to be supportive and evidence-informed but may not always be accurate or appropriate for your specific situation. Always consult a qualified professional for medical or mental health decisions.

3. Ory Plus Subscription

Ory offers a free tier and a paid subscription called Ory Plus, available as a monthly or annual plan.

Billing: Subscriptions are processed by Apple via the App Store. Your Apple ID will be charged upon confirmation of purchase.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Cancellation: You can cancel at any time via Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or via your Apple ID settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
Refunds: All purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests must be made directly to Apple. We do not process refunds ourselves.
Price changes: We may change subscription prices. You will be notified in advance and will have the opportunity to cancel before any price change takes effect.
Free tier limits: The free tier includes a limited number of messages per day. These limits may change over time.

4. Your Data

Your conversation history, mood logs, and settings are stored on your device and in iCloud under your control. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details of how we handle your data.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the App's AI system prompts or source code
Use the App to harass, harm, or threaten others
Misrepresent the App's outputs as professional medical or therapeutic advice
Attempt to circumvent any usage limits or access controls
Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation

6. Intellectual Property

The Ory name, logo, mascot, and all content within the App (excluding your personal conversation content) are owned by or licensed to us and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the App without our written permission.

Your conversation content belongs to you. By using the App you grant us no ownership rights over what you type.

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
AI-generated responses will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your needs
The App will meet your specific requirements

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable UK law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or harm arising from your reliance on AI-generated content.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

9. Third-Party Services

Ory uses third-party services including Anthropic (AI responses), Apple (App Store and iCloud), and RevenueCat (subscription management). Your use of these services is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of these third parties.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
