1. Who this policy applies to

This app is intended for adults aged 18 and over. By using Ory, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

2. What data we collect and why

Conversation data

When you chat with Ory, your messages are sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude AI) via a secure proxy server in order to generate responses. Conversations are stored on your device and synced via iCloud. We do not store your conversations on our own servers.

Mood logs

Your daily mood entries are stored on your device and synced via iCloud only. This data does not leave your device or iCloud account except as described in section 4.

Your name and profile

If you provide your name during onboarding, it is stored on your device and iCloud. Ory also builds a brief profile from your conversations to provide continuity across sessions. This profile is stored on your device and iCloud only.

Purchase data

If you subscribe to Ory Plus, your purchase is processed by Apple and tracked by RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your subscription status — not your name or contact details.

3. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)

We process your data on the following grounds:

• Performance of a contract — to provide the Ory service you have chosen to use
• Legitimate interests — to maintain the reliability and quality of the app, where this does not override your rights

4. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.

5. International data transfers

Anthropic and RevenueCat are based in the United States. Sending data to them constitutes an international transfer under UK GDPR. Both companies maintain appropriate safeguards for such transfers. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies directly:

6. Data retention

Your data is stored on your device and in iCloud for as long as you use the app. Deleting the app removes all local data. You can manage or delete your iCloud data via Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Anthropic and RevenueCat retain data according to their own privacy policies.

7. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Deletion — delete your data using the Delete Account option in Settings, or by contacting us
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Complaint — lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk

8. Data breach notification

In the event of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the ICO as required by UK GDPR, without undue delay.

9. Automated processing

Ory uses AI to generate responses to your messages. This does not constitute automated decision-making with legal or significant effects as defined under UK GDPR — Ory provides conversational support only and does not make decisions about you.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes within the app. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
